In a world full of depression and anxiety, a smile serves as a medicine. The prettiest the smile the more likely it is to comfort someone. We take in a lot of junk these days which not only upsets our metabolism but also stains are teeth turning them pale to the yellowish hue.
Carbonated drinks, coffee, tea and dark dressings on deserts are one of the top causes of stained
teeth.
I have come across people who have perfect smiles but the yellowish hue and stains on their teeth make it nonperfect. Some of them have undergone
treatments in which dentists apply a gel to make their teeth look whiter but as soon as the enamel or gel erodes away the yellow teeth come back with a bang!
Moreover, these teeth whitener treatments are artificial and costly. The toothpaste of various brands has also been introduced to retain the tooth colour. Some of them are however very effective too. But mostly their results last as long as they are in use.
Well, I believe that efficiency does matter but common fruits can also be used to whiten teeth and they are cost-effective, natural and tasty. Here is a list of fruits that can be used as teeth whitener.
1. Lemon
Lemon is a citrus fruit and is known to have the most acidic nature but this acid is not harmful to us because it’s natural and act as a bleaching agent.
How to use:
a. Simply rub lemon peels on your teeth thrice a week and continue until desired results.
b. Mix half teaspoon of baking soda, lemon juice and a small amount of regular toothpaste. Apply this mixture on your teeth and then brush it with a soft bristle toothbrush.
2. Apples
Apples have an acidic nature too and their hardness makes them a good teeth whitener. As an apple a day keeps a doctor away, simply, an apple a day keeps the stains away. So, eat as many apples as you can when they are cheap, affordable and nice in taste and say goodbye to yellow teeth.
3. Strawberries
Definitely, your favourite fruit helps in teeth whitening and makes them glow.
strawberries have an acidic enzyme called malic acid which helps to whiten.
How to use:
a. eating also serves the cause but mashing up a bit and leaving the fruit on your teeth for 5 minutes and brushing it off afterwards will leave better results.
4. Oranges
Who hates oranges? Not me for sure. Oranges also have rich vitamins C in it and are used in various natural treatments. The fibre is good for digestion and the fruit is good for teeth and peels are good for skin.
How to use:
Moreover, if peels are dried and crushed they can also be used along with toothpaste to clean stained teeth.
5. Pineapple
Bromelain acid in pineapples helps in getting rid of discoloured teeth and breaks down the food residue on teeth, making them white.
Pineapples are also rich in vitamin C and are a very tasty citrus fruit.
